This was my 4th great grandparents home until they died in the early 1800's. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detailMatching.html?prop=61587010&sale=10662565&country=england James Walker 1769-1836 m. Elizabeth Colbert 1775-1825.
The towns where my ancestors lived were East Cottingwith, Aughton, Selby, Wressle, Seaton Ross, and any little village in that area. I have found a reference to Pocklington.
John was the son of John Walker and his 2nd wife, Ann Bagley. Elizabeth was the daughter of Barbara Holmes, daughter of William Holmes, and Barbara's 2nd husband Thomas Colbert, son of John and Mary Colbert.
Barbara Holmes had a son, William, by her 1st husband, William Harper. William Harper Jr. had no children from either marriage and left his property to his 1/2 sister, Elizabeth's adult children.
William Harper Jr lived in the house behind the Methodist church (he sold that bit of land to the Methodists) across from St. Edmonds. Jon Clark lives there now. Ursula Clark has been a great help for several years and I've gotten quite a lot of information from her.
Is it possible to find any land records and/or house deeds or anything that would show that James and Elizabeth Walker did live in that house? An old map that I have a copy of puts them at the intersection of West End and Smithy in Seaton Ross. They lived across the road from Bielby's grocery. James' daughter, Mary Ann, married Charles Beilby.
I don't need any kind of legal copy, I just would like to add it to the Walker story. Did they own that house? Who did they buy it from and who lived in it after they died?
I don't know where to write or who to ask. Any insight is most appreciated.
