Reader Comments for Liptrot Street
The street has been there since at least 1894. There was a grocer called Liptrot who has a grocer shop on Scot Lane, Newtown in the 1870s. From what I understand he owned some dwelling houses in the yard at the back of his shop. This could have been Liptrot Street after the shop.
Looking at the newspaper archive there were a few Liptrots in the Wigan area.
