I remember staying with my grandparents in the ’90s. They lived in a house called Nedals (Sladen spelled backward), and if there wasn’t room for me inside, I'd stay in a concrete shed they called the "Sleep Out" to make it sound fun. But, honestly, it was anything but fun. It was always cold.
I have such fond memories of Hathersage: exploring the countryside, hopping across the stepping stones over the river, visiting Little John’s grave in the churchyard, and catching the train to Sheffield.
The views were unforgettable. every window framed brooding hills like a painting, and at night, the darkness was absolute, no lights, just black, I haven’t experienced this before or since.
