Hello - I lived at no. 3 Gwendolen Ave., Putney SW15 over 70 years ago - we moved house to Merton but Gwendolen Ave has never left my heart, I absolutely loved living there.

Does anyone know of a history of Gwendolen Ave ie how and who devloped it. The Avenue is made up of a variety of architectural designs which makes me wonder whether building plots weren't sold off to individual developers allowing them to erect pretty much what they fancied. Does anyone out there know better. Please direct me to wherever I may find Gwendolen Avenue's history.

Whenever I'm in the vicinity, which isn't often nowadays as I live on the South Coast, I make a drive past just to remind myself how perfect it all was. Mercifully no drastic changes have been made as far as I can see, apart from parking restrictions which weren't there way back.
