Great Meadow located in Astley Village has the lowest crime rate in The Chorley Borough. Excellent schools Buckshaw primary is 1-3 mins walk with a safe walkway. Parklands ans St Michaels secondary 5 - 12 mins walk. Astley Park is on the doorstep and a 10 min walk takes you directly into Chorley town centre. Astley Village is one of the most sought areas to live. A new sports area is being built with 5 football pitches, 1min walk from GM Running track and play area all for free use. The Parish council ensure the area is kept clean with new benches and ongoing projects. Excellent safe clean area to bring up a family or sit back and relax. Shops and restaurant only 2 mins walk. No major developments as there is no free land left to build on.

The roads are named after the farm “Astley” that was part of Astley Hall (the park) estate. for eg. Great Meadow, Broadfields, Judeland, Long Croft, to name a few. Now the area has evolved and now known as Astley Village when in fact it the area started out as Astley Park, then Astley Park Village, now Just Astley Village.
The Parish council have done excellent work in providing seating, flower tubs and replacing trees from one end of the village to the other. As of now Feb 2021 new signage, finger signposts, notice boards painting and restoring the bush shelters is work in progress. An ideal place for families and old to enjoy.
