I live in Italy and am trying to put together the story of two very interesting men, William (father)
and Alexander (son) MacBean .
I believe that Mr MacBean, who came from Inverness, was a very well to do Merchant here in Tuscany and I am trying to make the connection.
Mr William MacBean and Mr Alexander MacBean lived and traded Marble from Carrara in the early eighteen hundreds.
Mr Alexander MacBean built himself a castle like Villa here in Bagni di Lucca, Tuscany and there is a very large English community .
The little town of Barga, only 20mins away is the most Scottish town in Italy .
Mr Alexander MacBean was also Consolate here in Livorno .
I found another streer called MacBean Street in London near the docks at Marble Arch and Marble Arch was built using Marble from Carrara as was The Town Hall in Glasgow, where I worked as a very young office junior ..
