Contact MeThe Limes estate is built on the grounds of Lime Hall once owned by the Mellor family. When the estate was built Lime Hall still stood amongst the new houses it was painted in a lime green colour. Also there is a row of Lime trees near the pond. The hall became occupied by squatters and after a fire, it was demolished and bungalows built in its place.
Ipswich footballer Arnold Muhren was the first occupant of one of them.
Do anyone have a Pic of the old Limehall house i once lived there back in early 70,s would love to see a Picture of it now live in America so would like a pic for my memories if someone can send me a pic before it was pulled down that i just read about thank you

You may find there would have been an article in the 'Evening Star' reporting on the fire in Lime Hall which would have been 1975/6 if you can access the archives, along with a photo.
I was living there at the time of the fire, which happened to be across the hall from my room, caused by a candle. The owner of the building at the time had disappeared and left a house full of tenants who rented individual rooms. The house started to fall into disrepair, and tenants left, leaving a couple of us with no electricity or water, we were not squatters as stated above.
It was sad to see the building demolished but it was nice while it lasted.
