Looking at the newspaper archive I can find several mentions of Barley Close. The first is dated 1904 and is about a cricket match held 'on Barley Close`, I'm not sure if this is a typo and should read 'at'
The site is referred to as 'charity land' or as 'council houses'
In 1942 an occupant was fined for using a torch without a screen. Which could attract enemy bombers.
Barley Close was also the home of Buckinghamshire's first Woman Special Constable in 1950.
Barley Close is missing from the 1900 Ordnance survey. The mapping coverage is incomplete until the next map dated 1961.
It shows only seven houses in a different layout to the 1976 map which shows the road as it is today.
It looks like the old council houses were demolished in the late 60's early 70's and replaced with the current houses.
