The barley mow pub was on the corner. I used to tap on the door handle and pass the jug for my mum and her pale ale !! and I used to sip it before I turned left into stuff Anne street.
At the other end of oulton place on the left-hand side was a baker I was sent there for the bread and the old lady always put 2 jam doughnuts in the bag. My sister on her way to work was always stopped and asked for a cigarette by a woman who lived on the right of the street. On the left was a passage that had a tap in the wall we all used it but we had to pass a front door and the old lady used to shout I think she could see our shadow under her door.
